The One Where Sophia Went To The Mall

After 15 and a half months, Sophia stepped foot in a mall again. She was pretty excited, too!

Ready for the mall
  • Sophia: Mommy, I am finally going inside the mall again, after so long!
  • Mommy: I know, baby. Are you excited?
  • S: yes, I do not even remember what it looks like anymore!
  • M: still the same with a few changes, you’ll see baby.
Too bad kids are not allowed still
  • S: oh these stalls are new!
  • M: yeah, I guess they are!
  • S: and there’s Jollibee! Take a photo of me, Mommy!
  • M: sure, Sophia. Let’s get up after.
My little daredevil!

Having her ear checked at the clinic is definitely not the best reason to go out, but seeing my daughter’s delight reminded me to appreciate the little things that I usually take for granted.

I reached 5 ft and stopped growing! I hope Sophia grows taller!

I may not be able to go overseas, but I can travel within the country (if I am willing to go through all the trouble). I may not be able to go out and meet friends and party, but I can maybe meet one at a time (or the next best thing, organize virtual get togethers). I may not be able to go out and eat with my family and friends at our favorite restaurants, but I can have food delivered and enjoy meals at the comfort of our homes.

Oh, Sarah. Please internalize acceptance. Do not resist what is happening, which you have no control over anyway. You will be much less unhappy if you let go and get through each day with a little bit of grace and positivity (and hopefully some joy, too). If you think things are hard now, it will pass, and get better.

Got her some stuff to keep her busy while she cannot swim.

“Once you have reached a certain level of consciousness, you are able to decide what kind of relationship you want to have with the present moment. Do I want the present moment to be my friend or my enemy? Once you have decided you want the present moment to be your friend, it is up to you to make the first move: Become friendly toward it, welcome it no matter in what disguise it comes, and soon you will see the results. Life becomes friendly toward you: people become helpful, circumstances cooperative. One decision changes your entire reality. But that one decision you have to make again and again – until it becomes natural to live in such a way.”

Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth

I decide to make the present moment be my friend. What about you?
