The Gift Of Giving Gifts

Today was intense! After Sophia’s class, we went to megamall for some Christmas shopping. This is the first time we’re doing this. Not because I had a windfall or anything, I’m still in over my head with bills and all. I decided to start this tradition because I am grateful there are people who are kind and generous to me, and I was once a child too.

A few days ago, I asked Sophia to make a list of gift ideas for her cousins and friends. I want her to experience what it’s like to give someone a gift. Again, I gave her a budget to teach her it’s not really about the price (and of course, to go easy on my pocket). I also asked her to consider what she thinks the recipient will like to teach her that gift giving is a personal activity.

I would like to commend the H&M Megamall staff for the additional 1K (20 usd) discount. When we were hauling the clothes on the counter, my head was spinning from the small pile that was starting to build. There was this 3 for 2 promo where the store only take charge for the 2 more expensive ones so technically the cheapest is free. We got 6 of those and I was worried they would charge me for the 4 more expensive ones and free up the 2 cheapest. For ex, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60. Of course I want to get the 40 and 10 free, not 10 and 20. After all, if I was the owner of the store, that’s definitely what I’m going to do. I asked the lady at the counter but she didn’t seem to understand my concern. To make sure, I told her I will split my transactions. She then told me I could avail of the 500 peso off (10 usd) voucher. At first I was not very enthusiastic because I assumed I would be able to use it on my next visit (I mean, not same day). But to my surprise, I was able to!

The voucher was a 10 usd off if I purchase at least 2k (40 usd). It was 25% off and since I am a sucker for promos like this, I was devastated when I made a mistake on our second transaction. I made sure it was another 40 bucks but I forgot they will deduct 10 so I would not be eligible for the voucher! I asked the lady if she can void my purchase so I can add some more. She said no but I asked if I could speak to the manager, who happened to be at the register next to hers. And she helped us with it. Thank you so much for making my day!

It was a tiring but definitely a fun day! The best part was the food! Japanese (buy 1 take 1 ramen!) and ice cream! Or was it the voucher? I’m sure we forgot a few things, but at least we’ve got time still.

Are you done with your Christmas shopping yet?

        1. I hate shopping. But I suppose finding good deals makes it more bearable. Lol
