Written March 3, 2021:
It is Sophia’s last day of 2nd term exams. One of the questions in her PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) subject: “who is that special person in your family and what features of him/her are similar to yours?”
Sophia’s answer: “my mother and I are both happy and grateful”. I was not surprised about the grateful similarity because we really do try, we both have a grateful journal we write to each day.
However, I was taken aback about the happy part. The other day we were just both bawling our eyes out! She has seen me cry a LOOOOTTTT of time. I asked her about it and she said, well… for the most part we’re happy. I suppose she is right, for the most part of my life I was not unhappy. And my cheery disposition has helped me get through tough times already. I may not be aware, but maybe I am not unhappy right now, not anymore. After all, kids don’t lie, right? I mean, look at the shirt my very adorable daughter is wearing in the photo.
I was again reminded that I should be careful about what I say and do as my little one can see and feel everything. For those with kids, maybe try to ask your child this question.
